Philip Leach (Trustee)

Philip Leach is a solicitor and a lecturer of Human Rights Law at London Metropolitan University.

He is also Director of the European Human Rights Advocacy Centre, where he is responsible for assisting lawyers and NGOs in Russia to take on human rights cases.

Philip was formerly Legal Director of the London-based Kurdish Human Rights Project and of the UK human rights NGO, Liberty.

He has considerable experience of representing applicants before the European Court of Human Rights. He provides human rights training to lawyers, prosecutors, judges and NGOs in the Balkans and Eastern Europe for the Council of Europe and the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe.

Philip is the author of Taking a Case to the European Court of Human Rights (OUP, 2005). He is co-editor of the Human Rights Alerter (Sweet & Maxwell) and is a Board Member of European Human Rights Law Review (Sweet & Maxwell).
